I am currently working at the Department of Emergency Surgery of the Fondazione IRCCS – Ca’ Granda, Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy. I graduated in 2020 in General Surgery from the University of Trieste, Italy. I have developed over the years an unnatural love for Acute Care Surgery. I’ve attended as many ACS-related courses as possible, such as ATLS, DSTC, MRMI, MUSEC, and so on… Moreover, I’m an active member of the Italian Society of Emergency Surgery and Trauma (SICUT), the European Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES), and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). During my career I worked as a senior resident in the Department of Emergency Surgery and Trauma of the Humanitas Research Hospital, Rozzano (MI), Italy, and as both a junior and senior registrar in the Department of Trauma of the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Enrico Marrano, MD (Founder, Editor-in-Chief)

Graduated from Verona’s University in General Surgery in 2019, I spent most of my residency in pancreatic surgery, always looking interested in Acute Care and Emergency Surgery. During my fifth year of residency, I decided to fly for 11 months to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg (ZA) where my love for Trauma Surgery bloomed. There I followed the ATLS and DSTC courses and had a deep Trauma experience and exposure.
I love teaching and thanks to the South African experience I’m now an ATLS instructor and ESTES member. I recently moved to Spain where I work at the Emergency Surgery and Trauma Unit of Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital in the Barcelona province.

Stefano Piero Bernardo Cioffi, MD, PhD Candidate (Editor-in-Chief)

I am a general surgeon with a focus on acute care surgery. I currently work at Niguarda Hospital, Milan, Italy, in the emergency and trauma surgery unit. I am an active member of the Italian Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery, the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery, the European Society of Endoscopic Surgery, and the Italian Society of Endoscopic Surgery.
I am passionate about clinical research with a special interest in surgical education and evidence-based surgery in acute care surgery.
I graduated in general surgery in 2021 at the University of Milan after different clinical rotations, from advanced laparoscopic surgery to surgical oncology focusing on sarcoma surgery, to acute care surgery.
